Seaforth is a great place for bird watching, and caters for the casual observer to the hard core ornithologist. With so many different habitats found within a small area, there is a variety of birds to be found. There are sandy and rocky beaches, mangroves, tidal flats, eucalypt and paperbark woodland, tropical gardens, parkland and remnant patches of dense coastal scrub that provide a haven for rainforest birds. A quick drive away is cattle, sugar cane country and the Cape Hillsborough National Park. Over this area 180 different bird species have been recorded, some of them residents, others are migratory and only pop in once a year.

The Seaforth township is noted for its large population of Bush Stone-Curlews, which are a sight to behold and have an unsettling stare. Large groups of waders roost on the beaches at high tide, or can be seen feeding on the tidal flats. The parks, camping ground and just about everywhere else is a favorite spot for large groups of Wood Ducks, Plumed Whistling-Ducks and Radjah Shelducks. When some trees are flowering or fruiting, Rainbow Lorikeets, Great Bowerbird, Red-Tailed Black-Cockatoos, and Sulphur-Crested Cockatoos can be easily seen and heard. There is endless opportunities for seeing a great variety of birds in a very short time. Other Common Residents include Australasian Figbird, Brush-turkey, Magpie, Bar-shouldered Dove, Black Kite, Brown Honeyeater, Brown Thornbill, Black-Cockatoo, Crested Pigeon, Crested Pigeon, Magpie-lark, Tawny Frogmouth, Orange-Footed Scrubfowl, Pied Imperial-Pigeons, Metallic Starlings, Buff-Breasted Paradise-Kingfishers, Rufous Owls, Wedge-tailed Eagle and the Masked Lapwing.
